About Alfalfa

Also called lucerne in countries outside of the United States, Alfalfa is a perennial flowering plant in the legume family Fabaceae. The alfalfa root system can reach a depth of 7 to 10 feet, and aids in improving soil quality by providing critical nitrogen fertility and soil protection against erosion. With its popularity as a forage crop, alfalfa is used for livestock forage and as a cover crop.

Alfalfa Protection Needs

As a small-seeded crop, it is easily susceptible to pests that can harm alfalfa yield exponentially. Alfalfa must be protected against the alfalfa weevil, aphids, armyworms, and the potato leafhopper right when it’s still a seed.

Seed coating protections offer the best support for alfalfa vitality and protection against known pathogens and disease.
